Bright Motor Group is currently recruiting a Workshop Controller at our Navan Road dealership. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, customer-focused professional to build a rewarding career with one of Ireland’s leading motor retailer groups.

As a Bright Workshop Controller you will be responsible for overseeing daily workshop operations, coordinating service and repair work to maximise efficiency. The position will manage technician workloads to ensure efficient, high quality repairs with strong first time fix rates. You will also liaise with Service Advisors and customers to clarify requirements, provide estimates as well as support a strong aftersales experience.

Role responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in the control of service and repair work carried out in the workshop to maximise service sales and profitability
  • Controlling the workshop through efficient operation of the planner and loading the work for each technician
  • Maximise profitability by driving workshop hours and be responsible for workshop loading, utilisation, efficiency productivity and our technicians clocked time on each job
  • The quality of work delivered is of paramount importance and you will be responsible for ensuring that there is a first-time resolution for every repair
  • Control the planner, record and process information on work carried out to customer vehicles
  • Where instructions are unclear, communicate with the Service Adviser or directly by telephone with the customer to ensure clarity.
  • Where required, meet personally with the customer to help identify problems such as intermittent faults
  • Ensure that all work specified on the job card is carried out.
  • Where work over and above that specified is identified, report the need to the Service Advisor
  • Oversee the team of Technicians and support the front of house Teams within the service department to deliver an outstanding Aftersales experience to our customers.
  • Highlight on the job sheet problems with PDI’s and refer to Service Manager.
  • With colleagues ensure that workshop housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Report to the Service Manager or Branch Manager any additional tools or equipment required to carry out work effectively
  • Communicate best practice solutions to colleagues in the workshop
  • Ensuring all working practices comply with company, health and safety and manufacturer policy
  • Providing estimates for servicing and repairs and setting timescales.
  • Maintaining thorough product knowledge and updating your knowledge through manufacturer led training
  • Maintain special tools and personal hand tools to ensure safe working practice is achieved at all times. Defects should be reported immediately to the Service Manager
  • Monitor technical information library and report any shortfalls to the Service Manager
  • Comply with health and safety standards

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable ability to meet and exceed targets
  • Strong Technical knowledgeable
  • Previous experience in a similar or technical role is essential.
  • Demonstrate people management experience overseeing a large team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Qualified Technician/Mechanic with certificates would be extremely desirable
  • Demonstrate effective persuasion skills and high levels of managerial ability
  • IT Literate including Microsoft Office suite
  • Self-motivating and able to manage own workload
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A friendly and professional manner
  • Highly organised and focused
  • Ability to work equally well both alone and as part of a wider team
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • A full, valid, and current driver’s licence
