About the role:
Bright Motor Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team.
Reporting to the Head of Accounts, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day accounting activities of a franchise brand. You will play an important role in ensuring that financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently, reconciliations are completed on a timely basis and financial information is maintained to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional looking to broaden their experience across a full range of accounting activities and develop their career within one of Ireland's leading automotive groups.
Role responsibilities:
- Processing of purchase invoices in line with agreed procedures.
- Prepare supplier payment runs and ensure suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
- Reconcile supplier statements monthly and ensure invoices are recorded in the correct accounting period.
- Manage the debtors ledger, following up outstanding balances and ensuring debtor ageing is kept to a minimum.
- Complete daily bank reconciliations and accurately allocate receipts and payments.
- Reconcile company credit card accounts.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and post monthly journals to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
- Complete daily and monthly reconciliations, including workshop and parts-related reports.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal departments to resolve queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to finance controls and authorisation procedures to comply with audit requirements
- Support month end close within agreed deadlines.
- Supporting the wider finance team with other duties and projects as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2–3 years' experience working in an accounts/finance environment.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using accounting software.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
- Experience working in a fast-paced or multi-site environment.
- Experience in the automotive or motor retail sector.
- May suit a part qualified accountant looking for their first role in industry.
